While doing some research on funky and innovative bags for a recent project in my Advanced Apparel Production class, I came across this picture of “Tim,” an upcycled suit transformed into a tote.
Poketo, which is an online retailer of design-driven wares that take art off the gallery walls and into people’s lives, is responsible for the selling of this novel item made from 100% upcycled clothing and couch leather handles. While this bag isn’t a high tech revolution in bag design, I thought that it is a good example of the potential future in sustainable design. After investigating this product further, I found out that it was made in collaboration with a South Korean non-profit, where all proceeds are directed to eco-awareness programs. How cool is that?!
If this upcycled tote sparks your interest, I would highly suggest visiting the Poketo website where they feature many other upcycled products: www.pocketo.com.
Happy Mother’s Day weekend!!
